Declan O'Leary is the orphaned son of hardworking Irish Catholic parents who were killed in an IRA bombing attack in Dublin in 1969. Raised in an orphanage run by the Church, Declan grew from boy to warrior quite by accident. Through some twist of genetic fate, he inherited both his father's extraordinary height and breadth and his mother's penchant for the written word's capacity to move the human spirit. Thus, it was as warrior-poet that Declan came into manhood with a sword arm capable of beating back Satan himself and a tender heart.

At seventeen, he began college in London, expenses paid by the Church. At twenty-three, he was betrayed by his first true love to the near death of his best friend. At twenty-four, he left England for Scotland to heal, to start over, to build a life without pain, sacrifice, or loss of honor.

Declan O'Leary is an original fictional character conceived for and used shamelessly in Seraphim Applorant: The Witch War Histories, Vol. II and Invocatus Rex: The Witch War Histories, Vol. III. As his creator, I am currently attempting to redeem myself for these abuses by giving Declan the starring role in Coadeyder, a new work in progress. His journal was created for my use of his perspective in Live Journal's Theatrical Muse community. The image of Karl Urban is merely a representation of Declan O'Leary, and I am in no way affiliated with Mr. Urban, his life, or work.
